Like Christmas in the Garden: Blackberry Season at the Homestead

Hey Loves,

Y’all know I love every season on the homestead… but this one right here? This one hits different.

This time of year feels like Christmas to me.

Not the kind with wrapping paper and gifts under a tree, but the kind where you wake up knowing something good is waiting on you outside. The kind where there’s excitement in the air, and you can’t wait to see what the day is going to give you.

Because right now?

The garden is giving.

Every single day.

And baby… these blackberries? Whew.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like stepping outside and seeing those deep, rich, almost-black berries just sitting there, ready. Waiting. Like they’ve been growing just for you. Like the garden is saying, “Go ahead… I made this for you.”

And the best part?

It’s not a one-time thing.

It’s every day.

Every morning feels like opening a gift. You walk out there, basket in hand (or let’s be real… sometimes just your hands because who plans properly every day? 😂), and you start picking. Some go in the basket… some go straight to your mouth. Don’t judge me.

They’re warm from the sun, perfectly sweet with just a little tartness, and for a moment, everything else just slows down.

No emails.
No deadlines.
No noise.

Just you, the garden, and the reminder that this – this right here is what it’s all about.

This is why we plant.
This is why we water.
This is why we show up, even on the days when it’s hot, we’re tired, and the mosquitoes are acting like they pay rent.

Because eventually… the harvest comes.

And when it does, it feels like a reward you didn’t have to chase, just one you had to be patient enough to receive.

I think that’s why it feels like Christmas to me.

Not because of the berries themselves (even though they are THAT good), but because of what they represent.

Provision.
Patience.
Consistency.
Joy in the little things.

The kind of joy you don’t have to buy.

Just grow.

So if you need me, I’ll be outside… probably with stained fingers, a full heart, and a mouth full of blackberries.

And honestly?

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

With love from the garden,
