One of the questions Jordan gets asked pretty often is how he stores all of his seeds.
The answer usually surprises people.
He doesn’t have a climate-controlled seed room. He doesn’t vacuum seal every packet. He doesn’t have an elaborate filing system.
He uses a Simply Tidy Photo & Craft Keeper.
That’s it.
The individual cases make it easy to separate seeds by crop, and everything fits neatly inside one carrying case. Jordan organizes them by seed type and the season they’ll be planted, so when it’s time to start a new garden, he isn’t digging through dozens of random seed packets.
Could you create a more elaborate system?
Absolutely.
But here’s the thing we’ve learned at 1737…
The best organization system is the one you’ll actually use.
For us, this little storage case checks all the boxes.
- Easy to organize.
- Easy to carry.
- Easy to find what you’re looking for.
- Affordable.
- Keeps the seed packets protected and together.
As our collection grows, we’ll probably add another case rather than reinvent the whole system.
Sometimes homesteading isn’t about finding the fanciest solution.
It’s about finding one that works.
This is one of those things that works for us, and if you’re looking for a simple way to organize your own seed collection, this might be worth trying.
After all, the goal isn’t to have the prettiest seed storage.
The goal is to grow something.
And around here, if Jordan can find the seeds when it’s time to put something in the dirt, I’m calling the system a success.
Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just one little photo box, a whole lot of seeds, and apparently enough organization for somebody to ask him how he does it.
