Full Circle at the Homestead: Celebrating the Success of Our Chicken Processing Class

There are moments here at the homestead that remind us exactly why we started this journey… and this past chicken processing class was one of them.

What began as a simple idea sharing real homesteading skills with our community turned into a powerful day of learning, connection, and hands-on experience. The last class was full, the questions were flowing, and the interaction between everyone there made the day even more special than we expected.

We had students from different backgrounds, different experience levels, and different reasons for coming… but by the end of the class, everyone left with the same thing: confidence.

Confidence in knowing where their food comes from.
Confidence in learning a skill that most people never get the chance to see.
Confidence in realizing that this lifestyle is possible.

And that right there is why we do this.

At 1737 Urban Homestead, our goal has never been just to grow food.
Our goal is to grow knowledge, grow independence, and grow community.

Watching students ask questions, help each other, laugh, learn, and even surprise themselves with what they were capable of… that’s the part that makes all the work worth it.

Every class reminds us that people want to learn.
People want to reconnect with real skills.
People want to understand their food again.

And we are honored to be able to teach it.
