Cultivating Community…Harvesting Home

Around here, we believe in more than just growing food, we’re growing connections. When we say “Cultivating community…Harvesting home,” we’re not just being cute (though let’s be real, it is pretty catchy). That motto is the heartbeat of everything we do at 1737 Urban Homestead.

Cultivating community means getting our hands dirty together. Whether it’s swapping seedlings at a neighborhood plant exchange, teaching folks how to can summer’s bounty, or just chatting over tea made from herbs we grew ourselves—this land has a way of bringing people together. We’re not here to gatekeep the good stuff. If we learn it, we share it. If we grow it, we’ll show you how to do the same in your backyard. We’ll also teach you how to do it on your balcony or even your windowsill.

Harvesting home is about more than just what we pull from the garden beds. It’s about the feeling you get when your hands touch the earth and your soul exhales. It’s about building a space where chickens roam. Fresh herbs fill the air. Everybody feels welcome, from the baby chicks. Even the nosy neighbors come by “just to see what y’all got going on this time.”

Home isn’t always a place—it’s a feeling. If we can help even one person feel more rooted, we’ve done our job. We want them to feel more connected and more at peace in their little corner of the world.

So when you see our motto, know this: We’re out here doing more than farming. We’re building something real. One seed, one soul, one sip of fresh tea at a time.
