If you grew up when I did, then you already know the feeling.
You find a quarter.
You see the bubble gum machine.
You put the quarter in, turn the knob, and wait to see what you get.
It might be gum.
It might be a little toy.
It might be something completely random.
But whatever it was… it was exciting.
Well… we brought that same feeling to 1737 Urban Homestead just with a garden twist.
We now have an old-school mystery machine sitting right here at the homestead, and instead of bubble gum or toys…
…it’s full of seeds.
Yes. Real seeds.
And for $.25, you can spin the knob and see what the garden has for you.
🌿 You Never Know What You’ll Get
Inside the machine are different seeds from the homestead.
Some herbs.
Some flowers.
Some vegetables.
Some things you may have never grown before.
And that’s the fun part.
Not everything has to be planned out perfectly.
Sometimes you just take a chance, plant the seed, and see what grows.
Honestly, one of my favorite things has been watching grown folks get just as excited as kids when they turn that knob.
You would think we were giving away gold instead of seeds 😄
🌻 Why We Even Did This
If you know us, then you know this is exactly the kind of thing we would do.
At 1737, we believe learning should be hands-on.
Growing should be fun.
And the homestead should feel like home.
The seed machine started as one of those random conversations, like:
“That would be cool…”
“We should do that…”
“You know what… let’s really do it.”
And now here we are.
A quarter.
A turn of the knob.
And something new to grow.
🌱 Come Try Your Luck
Next time you come out to the homestead, bring a quarter.
Take a spin.
See what you get.
Plant it.
Grow it.
Share it.
You might walk away with basil.
You might get flowers.
You might get tomatoes.
You might get something you didn’t even know you needed.
But one thing is for sure…
You’ll leave with something that has the chance to grow.
And that’s what we’re all about at 1737 Urban Homestead.
Cultivating community…
Harvesting home.
