Chicken Math Strikes Again at 1737 Urban Homestead

Because you can never have too many chickens… right?

If you’ve ever dipped your toe into backyard chicken keeping, you’ve probably heard of “chicken math.” It’s the totally real and unstoppable phenomenon. You plan for just a few hens, and somehow, you end up with an entire flock before you know it. Well, guess what? Chicken math has officially hit the 1737 Urban Homestead — again!

We’re thrilled to welcome six new feathered friends to our little backyard farm. They’re just the sweetest bunch of fluff balls you ever did see. Here’s who’s joined the flock:

  • 🐣 Three Easter Eggers – These gals will bring some serious color to our egg basket with their blue and green surprises!
  • 🐥 One Buff Orpington – Because can you really have too many Golden Girls? We think not.
  • 🐔 One Brown Leghorn – Quick, curious, and full of sass. She’s already keeping us on our toes.
  • 🐤 One Silver Wyandotte – Sleek, stylish, and a little mysterious. We’re already obsessed with her silver-laced feathers.

Now comes the best (and possibly hardest) part: naming them. We love to give our girls names that fit their personalities and quirks, and this crew is no exception. Our original Buff Orpington ladies already carry the torch as Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia. We’ve got to keep the naming game strong.

We’d love to hear your suggestions! Should we go with classic names? Something funny? Pop culture inspired? Themed? Drop us a comment or shoot us a message on Instagram or Facebook—we love including our community in the fun.

As always, life on the homestead is full of joy, surprises, and just a little bit of chicken math. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Stay clucky,
Shawana
